                    Welcome!

Our Mission is to provide Social, Recreational,
Educational activities to children and youth as
an alternative to crime while encouraging proper use of leisure time.

About Us

The Town of Placentia donated the building in whicha number ofdecicated parents and youth refurbished it within two months opening its doors in November 1994. Busiesses and parents were overwhelming in there support. Supplies were puchased to make it a safe and comfortable place for youth to socialize. The R.C.M.P. report the crime rate has decreased almost 4- since the p4began operating in the area.

The P4 is a top notch facility providing many programs and events for children and youth in the area. We have also expanded to include other community groups and the general public. Some of the organizations that use or have used the facilities include but are not limited to: Beavers, Cubs, Karate, Kids Club, Girl Guides, Line Dancing, and Moms and Tots. Adults also use the Fitnses room durring the day when the students are in school. Businesses and organizations ulilize the facilities for training and conferences.

The P4 is operated by an adult and youth BOard of Directors. Youth take ownership of their Centre by giving the Board suggestions and direction to center inssues. The policies and procedures of the P4 Youth Centre have been created and implemented by the youth. They have developed a system of "peer policing", taking it upon themselves to enforce the roles and responsibilities of the P4.

All P4 services are offered to approximatley 100-150 youth free of charge. They have use of all recreational facilities, fitness room, computer room, with unlimited internet access and movies. The centre's property has a small playground, a tennis court, and a paintball field. We have also sponsored softball and rowing teams. There are also scheduled events on a daily basis, I.E. jam seesions, dances, bake-offs, wake-a-thons to name a few.

With funding from Community Youth Networks (CYN), we have been able to undertake major kitchen renovations and hire a full time program coordinator to organize and implement programs for youth. We have provided many educational and health programs with the assistance of Health and Community Services. There Health Promotions nurse has helped deliver many workshops including "Hazy Love", "Get Seherious", and "FREEDOM". Some other programs delivered by the P4 Youth Centre include, Homework Haven, True Colours, and our more recent project "Girl Matters: Growing your Self Esteem".
